Entry Details and Rules

This prestigious awards program recognizes projects and professionals demonstrating excellence in residential and mixed-use land development.Awards are presented at MBIA’s annual Awards of Excellence event on November 18 at Laurel Park.

Judging Criteria

• Excellence in land use practices
• Sensitivity to the surrounding community
• Thoughtful design and outstanding execution
• Environmental stewardship and sustainability
• Creative solutions to unique development challenges
• Overall acceptance of the finished project

Awards of Excellence are presented to a Project of the Year, as well as to individual projects meeting the criteria above. These awards are widely recognized as the area’s most prestigious land development honors, used to identify and promote industry best practices and leading professionals.

Eligibility & Rules

• All MBIA members may enter individuals, and residential, multifamily, and mixed-use
• Previously submitted projects may re-enter, except prior “Project of the Year” winners.
• Awards of Excellence are given at the judges’ discretion.
• Multi-phase projects may enter individual phases for an Award of Excellence; however, if any phase has already received “Project of the Year,” no subsequent phases are eligible.
• The committee reserves the right to verify all submitted information.

Please note when entering text will be used for printed materials and awards exactly as you input here.

Descriptive Narrative (1 Page or Less)

Address what makes your project unique, such as:

• Sensitivity to the environment, land design, and planning
• Sensitivity to the property’s historic nature and surrounding properties/uses
• Service to the community and neighborhood
• Development features unique to the project
• Development hurdles overcome

Also Submit

• Site plan/layout, with amenities labeled on the map
• High-resolution photos (maximum 10) — these will be used if you win
