Entry Details and Rules

This prestigious awards program offers recognition of projects and professionals who demonstrate excellence in residential and mixed-use land development. The program is sponsored by MBIA’s Land Development Council and awards are presented at MBIA’s annual Awards of Excellence event in November. Projects are judged on the following criteria:

  • Excellence in land use practices
  • Sensitivity to the surrounding community
  • Thoughtful design and outstanding execution
  • Environmental stewardship and sustainability
  • Creative solutions to unique development challenges
  • Overall acceptance of the finished project

Awards of excellence are presented to a community of the year as well as projects deserving of awards of excellence. These awards are widely recognized as the area’s most prestigious land development awards and are used to identify and promote best practices and professionals.

  • All members of MBIA are eligible to enter individuals, residential, multifamily, mixed use and NAHB Green Developments for an award.
  • Land Development Council members may submit entries at a discounted rate.
  • Projects that have been submitted in the past may enter again with the exception of “Project of the Year” winners.
  • Awards of Excellence will be given at the discretion of the judges.
  • Multi-phase projects are eligible for Awards of Excellence for individual phases, however, if the project (whole or in part) received a “Project of the Year” award, no subsequent phases will be eligible for consideration.
