Maryland State Delegate Mike Griffith (R-District 35A) is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran representing portions of Cecil and Harford counties in the Maryland General Assembly. Serving on the House Ways and Means Committee, Griffith brings executive experience from the real estate management and housing sectors, having served as Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at HPS Management, which earned him the Maryland Building Industry Association's President's Award. On housing policy, he has consistently supported legislative measures aimed at improving housing affordability, protecting homeowners, and reducing financial barriers to homeownership. His pro-housing efforts include co-sponsoring legislation to establish first-time homebuyer property tax credits, expanding net worth eligibility limits for the Homeowners' Property Tax Credit, creating property tax credits for longtime residents to offset rising rates, and supporting the portability of Homestead Property Tax Credit values to make moving into new dwellings more affordable. Additionally, Griffith has introduced consumer-focused housing legislation, such as bills targeting fraudulent real estate leases and real property ownership protections.
