Senator Katie Fry Hester has represented Maryland’s 9th District in the State Senate since 2019, where she currently serves as a Deputy Majority Whip and Chair of the Rules Committee. Bringing over 20 years of private-sector experience in sustainable development, she is known for her bipartisan approach to complex issues like economic growth and environmental resilience. Senator Hester chairs the Joint Committee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Biotechnology, spearheading legislative efforts to modernize state infrastructure and address emerging AI technology. She also serves on the Education, Energy, and the Environment Committee, focusing on land use and climate policy. A graduate of Cornell University with a degree in Agricultural and Biological Engineering, she prioritizes data-driven solutions for her constituents in Howard and Montgomery Counties.
