Event Details

Join the MBIA Baltimore City Chapter for the Annual Holiday Party at The Chesapeake Wine Company as we welcome Councilman Mark Parker, District 1 as our Guest Speaker!

Mark Parker is a Baltimore City Council member representing District 1, having assumed office on December 5, 2024, after winning the election as the Democratic candidate to succeed Zeke Cohen. His involvement in local politics began earlier when he previously ran for the same District 1 seat in the 2016 Democratic primary. Throughout his career in public administration, Parker served as a Mayoral Fellow within the Baltimore City Department of Housing & Community Development (DHCD) and contributed to municipal policy as a member of the Baltimore City Hispanic Commission.

In his current legislative role, Councilman Parker serves as the Vice-Chair of the Education, Youth and Older Adults Committee, while also holding active seats on the Public Health and Environment Committee and the Transportation and Land Use Committee. Through his committee appointments and background with the Southeast Community Development Corporation (CDC) board, his political work remains closely tied to urban development and housing policy. On the council, he regularly engages with residential density and zoning legislation—such as debating lot coverage and rear-yard setback adjustments—aiming to balance urban growth and housing affordability with community stability in dense rowhouse neighborhoods.
